This weekend sees Brisbane City at home for a second straight week, taking on Rochedale Rovers at Imperial Corp Stadium in Round 5 of the NPL QLD Competition in a rare Sunday outing.

City come into this match off the back of a pulsating 2-2 derby draw in front of a huge crowd against Olympic last weekend at the same venue. Matt Thurtell netted his third goal of the season before Noah Maieroni scored his first senior goal for the Azzurri within seconds of coming on as a half time substitute.

Rovers were perhaps unfortunate to fall 1-0 at Ballinger Park to high flying Sunshine Coast Wanderers with a controversial penalty proving decisive in that fixture. Overall, City sit 5th after 4 games, with two wins, a draw and a loss while Rochedale are 9th with a solitary victory over Redlands from their 4 games thus far.

The last competitive meetings between these two sides was actually in the FQPL1 Competition in 2021, City edging the first of two meetings here at Imperial Corp Stadium 1-0. The second meeting at Underwood Park was just as tight, an 82nd minute Fraser Hills winner was enough for the Azzurri to secure another 1-0 result en route to a Premiership & Championship double.

Coach Karl Dodd and his players are urging all City supporters to replicate last Saturday’s fantastic attendance and get down to Imperial Corp Stadium again for what promises to be a quality Sunday afternoon of Football. The pizza ovens will on, ribs cooking on the BBQ and the Bar open. Our U18s kick off the afternoon at 1:45pm followed by the U23s at 3:45pm with the main game commencing at 6pm.
