Tuesday night sees Brisbane City back under the Imperial Corp Stadium lights in Australia Cup action in an all NPL blockbuster against Eastern Suburbs. This knockout fixture is both teams second appearance in this year’s edition of the Cup. City progressed comfortably in Round 4 against Nambour Yandina United whilst Easts were pushed all the way by FQPL1 side Wolves, eventually prevailing 3-2 with a 117th minute extra time winner sealing their progression.

Easts were knocked out at this same Preliminary Round 5 stage in 2022, defeated 3-1 by Southside Eagles at Memorial Park. Meanwhile the Azzurri will be out to replicate their 2022 Cup run which took them all the way to the National Round of 16, eventually defeated in an Australia Cup extra time classic by NPL Victoria Champions Oakleigh Cannons.

The two sides met twice in league action last year, in the first meeting here at Imperial Corp Stadium it was the hosts who fought back from behind to take the points 2-1 courtesy of a late Daniel Bowles penalty. In the return match at Heath Park City recorded a more comfortable 4-1 win with Kye Bolton notching up a hat-trick including a superb solo effort starting inside his own half to open the scoring.

With school holidays commencing for high school students, we are expecting a big crowd on hand at Imperial Corp Stadium for what will hopefully be another magical cup night under the Spencer Park lights. Kick off is at 7pm with gates open from 6:15pm, entry is FREE for all City players with only a gold coin donation required for all other spectators. The pizza ovens will be on and a full bar & canteen running, see you all there!
